ok this is one of the reasons i like her so much...

I'm going to give it to Obama, the man can give a speech. He seems totally accessible. I'd go have a beer with him, sure. I'd probably go have a beer with W, too, though so that's not saying much (hell, he would be a laugh a minute that W- and he wouldn't even know why you were laughing. Can you see him laughing along anyway, pretending to get why you're cracking up?). Forget the others, as far as I'm concerned it's Barack and Hillary. One or the other. They're both smart, well-educated, and I pretty much stand behind their platforms (give or take a few issues- but isn't that always the way?). But here's the thing...Barack is a baby. He doesn't know the system (you can say that we need fresh blood all you want, that's bullshit. If you don't know how to play the game the other boys are going to walk all over you). Hillary knows what's up. She's been in the White House. No, she wasn't the Pres, but Bill was and you KNOW that she was in on so much of what went on, not to mention the fact that if she were elected he would be there to help. God, if only I could vote for Bill again.
The problem with Hillary is that she isn't the orator her husband is. He's got any and every room in the palm of his hand. You know that he's smarter than you are, but he makes you feel like he's just an average guy. Hillary too often seems kind of stand-offish. She's smart and can speak, but you don't want to hang with her (which I DO NOT think should be one of the criteria that we use to decide who we're going to vote for). But here she is...unscripted, not being coached, just sitting at a coffee shop answering some questions. And this is the person that I want to see lead the country. Smart, capable, well-spoken, real, human.

Your post just made me imagine Hillary at a meeting in the oval office shouting "Don't fuck with me, fellas. This ain't my first time at the rodeo."

That said you need to jump on the Obama bandwagon. He is our country's Great Black Hope.

he's too green. he just can't handle it. i don't see him working out, i just don't see it. granted, if he's the dem candidate then you know he's got my vote, i just hope that hillary gets it. i think hillary has waaay more balls than obama. you don't fuck with her, you just know you don't.
plus, i cannot say this enough...
BILL WOULD BE BACK IN THE HOUSE!!!

Eh, I guess at the end of the day I think people have a hard time deciding because theyre both good candidates. I wouldn't mind seeing either one of them in the White House.

Also, how about in my mind the Clintons' return to the White House is accompanied by the Sanford & Son theme song?

really i just want to see the white house run go bush, clinton, clinton, bush, bush, clinton. then who knows? she could win a second term and then it'd be jenna's turn to run...we could just keep going between these two families forever, or until the country implodes, whichever comes first (and i think we'll know which one that will be)

just as long as we don't get Jeb. I might be down with Jenna or Jeb's cute son or something.

On a purely pragmatic level, I don't think Hillary will be able to create a governing coalition. Republicans will refuse to work with her as a matter of principle, and it's just going to get ugly fast. Symbolically, I also don't like the idea of Bill moving back into the White House. He did a lot of damage to the party and the country, and he doesn't have the right to move back in.

I'm tired of the whole Reagan/Bush vs. Clinton drama that has played out over the last nearly thirty years. Enough.

i agree that hillary will most likely cause a party divide just because of past bitterness, but i would love to see bill back. i do agree that he caused a bit of an issue for the party, but i don't think it ended up being that big of a deal. i think al would have (or DID) win, despite bill's, erm, issues. i think that bill did well, he was respected (and still is) by other world leaders, the man can give a speech like monica lewinski can give head, and he left this country in so much better of a position than he found it. we were on top of the world with him. i'm not going to try to claim that he didn't make mistakes. yeah, he messed some stuff up. yeah, he did some things i did NOT agree with (getting head in the oval office not being one of those things). yeah, he could have made some better choices. BUT he's the best president we've had in my lifetime, certainly. i still think that if it's barack or hillary i'm going to go with hillary. barack is just TOO green. he's all rhetoric. i see no action (he hasn't given me a chance to). that's not good. who knows what kind of damage he could do. and yeah, maybe he'd be great...but is that a risk we're in a position to take? with hillary and bill we know what we're getting into. we know what they're capable of (and some of those things are amazing and will be great for this country). with them we KNOW. and knowing is half the battle.

So I watched Hillary on Meet the Press, and it confirmed my anti-Hillaryness all the more. Every quesion or challenge from Russert was met by a "you have to examine the context" or "those are all lies and misrepresentations put out by Obama's staff" or "so what, Obama's even worse".

There was no leadership, no vision, no accountability. It's as though Hillary is running for president in 2000, not 2008. You think Bill didnt' do a lot of damage? You're crazy. If Clinton hadn't had his knob sucked, Gore would have been president, we wouldn't have been in Iraq, and New Orleans would've gotten some help in time. I'm not taking all that out on Hillary, and I still voted for her for seante and would easily do it again. But I think she has consistently exhibited poor judgment, political expedience, and non-buck-here-stoppage. I'll take my chances with Obama, who appears to be a good man with good judgment.
